Keratoconus exam

The usual diagnosis is set by an ophthalmologist on a detailed eye examination. Early detection of keratoconus is difficult, though with the help of modern devices like Pentacam we can safely determine the earliest stage.

The keratoconus exam includes:

• Vision inspection (refraction) to determine the diopter and possible reduction of visual acuity.
• Anterior eye segment exam including an examination of the eyelids, joints and lachrymal film, possible changes in the cornea that are characteristic of keratoconus (Vogt’s striae, scars, Fleischer ring, etc.) and other structures available through the exam with projection lamp.
• Pentacam analysis
• Anterior OCT
• AL scan
• Corneal topography
• Endothelial microscopy
• Eye pressure measurement
